Knocking On Decembers Door!

No matter what any person’s faith, belief in, which ever Higher Power, God or none at all, it is a season of, community and how each of us effect it. By trying to keep in mind as we travel from one gathering to the next, as we travel in search of that special gift for some one special, as we sit to feast with each other and the greatest thing, the looks on faces and lives of ALL the children, that we hope for divine protection, love and light for all. Our patience will be tested a plenty over the next month and I hope during all the hustle and bustle we take as much time to just sit, breath and remember what those before us, ancestors, loved ones passed over, now know, as they are with us in spirit, it is not so much what we give or receive in material matter, but what we project onto each other, in good will and love. The greatest gift we can give community, starts with a kind word, a smile and taken the time to resurrect the child in all of us, to sing, even when we don’t know the words, and to dance even when we don’t know the steps. To be generous with respect, because we don’t know everything that any one person is dealing with or dealt with this past year. To set a new pattern in our lives, of less complaints and weave a new way of life being thankful for what and who we have in our lives. No one can save the world on their own but we can make the world a little brighter in each our communities, from the moment we step out our doors in the morning and when we return home at the end of the day and count our blessings each and every day.

Take care December! and of each other..Blessed Be! *

You Talk Too Fast!

I went through a stage in my adult life where..

I talked fast..

While talking about one thing, another subject comes to mind.

While someone is chatting with me, I can be thinking about something else and have to ask them to repeat themselves.

Will be reading a book and realize once the chapter is done, I don’t recall what I just read.

Can be driving a car for 10 minutes and realize I don’t recall passing through the last small town.

Chatting with a friend, who could be waiting for a response from me but I would begin chatting about a whole new subject, confusing my company.

After a lot of reading and researching on this behaviour, for myself it came down to having a restless spirit. There is so much some people want to experience in life as well as wanting to share their own life experiences with a confidant, that there is a deep fear that there isn’t enough time in the day or enough days in your life.

So now I have learnt to calm my thought process, not to worry about tomorrow, because, right here and right now is truly all I have. It takes time to slow down the Brain Train and won’t happen over night. Learning to be consistent daily and with the company I keep. It is such a relaxing feeling to conquer my own demons. I am okay with spending a couple days hidden away in my home, not communicating with others, I have learnt to love the serenity of self! Decisions I make now are done with a peace of mind. And when I am in your company, I truly am enjoying listening to what you have to say..but most of all, I am grounded! My roots are solid, my stature is tall, my branches envelope the beauty around me and I will continue to grow as each season passes in my life!

Big Hero’s & Personal Opinions

~ ‘I believe in white supremacy’: John Wayne’s notorious 1971 Playboy interview goes viral on Twitter.

In February 2019, the lights started flashing on social media, 48 years later, about comments made by an entertainment icon, John Wayne. I had read about this a few years ago, his comments, just laughed back then, because it always amazed at how so many will get rich, live the high life off the backs of the very people they think less of, in the most ignorant way, the color of the skin. Now, we have the comments made by a Canadian icon, Don Cherry, that have stirred the pot….but 1st, here is the comments made by Mr. Wayne…

“I believe in white supremacy,” he said, and spoke harshly about African Americans, saying, “We can’t all of a sudden get down on our knees and turn everything over to the leadership of the blacks.”
“I don’t believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people,” he said.

Of slavery, he said that he didn’t feel any guilt about the U.S. history.
“I don’t feel guilty about the fact that five or 10 generations ago these people were slaves,” he said. “Now, I’m not condoning slavery. It’s just a fact of life, like the kid who gets infantile paralysis and has to wear braces so he can’t play football with the rest of us.”

And he spoke harshly about Native Americans when asked whether he felt any empathy for them, given the centrality many of them played in the Westerns he had worked on.

“I don’t feel we did wrong in taking this great country away from them, if that’s what you’re asking,” Wayne said. “Our so-called stealing of this country from them was just a matter of survival. There were great numbers of people who needed new land, and the Indians were selfishly trying to keep it for themselves.”

In discussion about Wayne’s interview online, reactions were split — not just along political lines but with many expressing surprise that Wayne’s views were being given attention nearly 40 years after his death.

‘John Wayne Day’ in Calif. rejected because of actor’s statements about minority groups..
His final film, The Shootist was in 1976, ending his acting career for 50 years, after appearing in, 169 feature length films.

Don Cherry’s life of stardom began in 1955. 64 years on a podium of some kind!

For myself, I think, does, or would, what John Wayne or Don Cherry’s opinions really matter to my daily life, what I think of myself, as a native american, my heritage being.. the FIRST I really care?.. No! It is not my job to go around changing what other peoples opinions are about any subject, all i can do, is keep bringing my own opinion to the table, a table where people actually sit and listen, not babble on what they think is my reality at any point in my own life, the life of my ancestors.
John Wayne and Don Cherry are 2 of many who feel the way, they publicly voiced, hell there is probably some one in every 2nd house in the neighborhood who feels the same, but that won’t stop me from living a life, being proud of who I am, where I come from and my culture as a whole.
At the end of the day, any one person’s opinion about any subject is just that.. their opinion! Don Cherry was paid to give his opinion once a week, on a sports network, about hockey.. so why should his personal opinion matter to myself or anyone else regarding anyone or anything else? It don’t to me.
He is in his 80’s now, surely has a hefty retirement account and because he got derailed for a personal opinion, regarding something else besides hockey, he got the boot.. Meh, oh well. I don’t think he really cares what others think of him or his opinions, yet here we are, after stuffing his pillow with the all mighty dollar, he sleeps like a baby…
He, like John Wayne do not have any importance in my life other than being in it for, entertainment value! I don’t support their personal opinions at the end of the day, the only thing I can do is keep teaching my children, my grandchildren what is morally right when it comes to anyone, no matter their race, color or religion or sexual preferences.. RESPECT!
Rest in peace John Wayne.. enjoy retirement Don Cherry! I hope the person you were or the person you are, was/is, able to look at the person in the mirror and feel good about how they lived/live along side their neighbor. I wish you peace!

Remember, what other people think of us, as individuals, is not our business! 😉op09

A New Day

It’s Friday! And the beginning of a new month! And for many of us along the north shore, we are in the midst of our 1st big snowfall, the beginning of winter! Which leaves us beginnings, a new day, where time does not stop for anyone. Sometimes that reality can be a sad thing, for example, the biggest reality check being, the ending of some sort in our lives, the passing over of someone we love, the ending of a relationship we thought could never end, the ending of good physical health, all things at some point we may have taken for granted. And it is sad at times when we live a life thinking every thing will always be perfect because we tried to achieve a life of perfection. That is when we fall the hardest and at times have a hard time rising back up to move forward. Life’s battles and trials are not meant to make us weak or weaken us, they are meant to strengthen us. So mentally and emotionaly we need to learn how to get our emotions in check to deal with these things. No battle is won over night, it takes commitment and effort to reach the top of any hill we struggle to climb and even after we reach the top, after we plant that flag of achievement, guess what’s next? ..another decent! Downhill! But with each victory we become stronger, our emotional and mental legs strengthen to be able to achieve the next hill we have to climb. And when we continue to live life this way, the victories will always be greater in numbers because we learnt how to manage the failures! Have faith in this moment, have faith in something greater than yourself and most importantly, have faith in yourself!! You got this! So my wish for YOU today is, I hope you have the energy in your mind, your body, your soul and heart to take on the day and what ever it brings. You are alive and some one else is so thankful you are! (Waving).
