Years End & Taking Inventory

I am sure at some point in our lives we have seen a  business posting a sign saying, Closed Due To Taken Inventory or Inventory Sale. Inventory is another name for stock, the contents.

So when we say we are taking a personal inventory, we are taking time to sort all the things we deal with in a daily basis. When it comes to we humans there is  5 inventory categories. The spiritual, the relational, the work, the financial and the physical.. If you notice the first one is the a spiritual inventory, which consists of God. Your church and quiet time. The relational inventory is all about family, friends and people we work with.. Our work is all about our career, education, our job and goals pertaining to that. The financial  is all about saving and investing. And last the physical is all about exercise, diet and rest.

To be able to keep everything in order we have to tend to number one, spiritual inventory and the rest will be tended to that much easier, so that our lives flow and not go against the current.

It is not always easy to take inventory of ourselves because there are times we don’t like what we are seeing. We really need to concentrate on putting those things in order and there is help out there to do that. Admitting that we do need help is the beginning of getting our inner house in order.

With a new year on the horizon, why not make it your goal to take inventory  and start the new year off with a new inner house?

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. – Matthew 11:28-30 –
